The Golden Leaf Foundation Grants ACSD Funds for Apple Computers
Recently, The Golden Leaf Foundation Grant awarded ACSD a check for $501,788. This generous grant afforded our district the ability to purchase a number of Apple computers. The Technology Department set up three Scientific Learning labs where the main focus is to intensify basic skills development by providing underclassmen who perform below proficiency to develop higher comprehension skills necessary for success in all academic subjects. Upper classmen will have laptops to use throughout the day in their career academies for project-based learning, online research, online college courses, career portfolio development, and home-school connection. Thank you, Golden Leaf!
Anson High School Selected as a 2009-2010 Apple Exemplary Program
The Apple Exemplary Program designation is reserved for educational programs that are model implementations of Apple products and solutions. Only programs that have demonstrated a strong use of Apple technology in education and illustrate "best practice" qualities of a 21st century learning environment are honored in this way.
The success shown in providing students with a technology-rich environment, including Apple notebook computers, iLife, and Final Cut helped to earn Anson High School this distinct honor. Anson County Schools will be recognized for this honor at January's school board meeting.
Anson High School's Digital Media classes received "Featured School" status on Schooltube.com. The criteria include uploading and sharing a minimum number of videos monthly that are student-produced.
AHS is very excited to be a featured school on Schooltube.com. It is the goal of the Digital Media classes to keep reaching higher in digital media endeavors!
