**EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY**
The Board of Education voted to approve adding the color navy for pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, dresses, skorts as an option for students in addition to Khaki (tan):
PANTS, SHORTS, SKIRTS, JUMPERS, DRESSES, SKORTS
1. All bottom garments must be Khaki (tan) or navy in color. No other colors may be visible. (Ex. Pockets, buttons, and zippers)
This decision changes the color of bottom garments to include both tan or navy color Khaki material not denim or jeans). We expect all students to be dressed according to these expectations.
WELCOME BACK
24 August 2010
Dear Citizens,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. As the past two years have demonstrated, the Anson County Schools is steadily improving as a school system with breakthrough student learning and achievement results at each grade level, in each subject, and in all schools.
Though our work – the work of teaching and learning to ensure that each learner meets or exceeds high academic standards is not complete, we are very encouraged about our progress.
Can we do better? Without question!
Must we do better? Absolutely!
To assist our educators, we have Parent Guides that each parent in grades K-8 and in Algebra and Geometry will soon receive that communicate what every learner is expected to learn to be successful. The Parent Guides are an important communication tool for our students and our parents as we partner to ensure success.
In a like manner, parents will receive monthly an update from their student’s principal as well as quarterly newsletter from their student’s school providing important, timely announcements, activities, and opportunities for parents.
In addition to our core work of teaching and learning, the Anson County Schools will begin a very important initiative to identify, agree, and commit to the strategic work for the next five years. The Strategic Commitments 2007-2011 have been the guiding document informing our work for the past three years. It is time to engage our entire community in this important process that culminates with Board of Education approval. Please look for invitations and opportunities to participate.
Underpinning our core work as well as work on the Strategic Commitments is our commitment to provide the highest quality teaching and learning experience for each learner. To accomplish this mission – a mission of All means All, we must remove any and all obstacles to timely, effective, and efficient communication.
We must also seek every way to build and in some cases rebuild relationships on behalf of each learner. I am convinced that communication and relationship building will convey to each learner the importance, value, and commitment to learning.
I continue to be honored to serve as superintendent and look forward to making this the very best year for teaching and learning for each learner.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to continuing our journey – the journey of “All means All”.
Best of Success –
Dr. Gregory A. Firn
Superintendent of Schools
